A special section is also represented by digital tools and methods for self-learning. The training and learning programme enables the empowerment of experts for the transition to a circular economy with tailored resources and training programmes for developing competences in circular tourism.
The online tool, additionally supported by the VCG database for analysing material flows / products with the aim of developing circular value chains (time-limited 12-2025), is an innovative platform that helps companies manage food surpluses and unavoidable food waste more efficiently and sustainably. The tool was developed within the CEFoodCycle project (co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Alpine Space programme), uses artificial intelligence (AI) to connect companies with potential solutions and providers for their food surpluses. In addition, the tool provides environmental impact analysis to increase awareness of potential environmental benefits (especially in relation to CO2 equivalent emissions) of choosing sustainable pathways instead of traditional waste disposal.
Options for surpluses: donation of food for human consumption (e.g. to social supermarkets), processing into new food products, production of non-food products (e.g. cosmetics, materials), energy production (e.g. biogas), animal feed production.
